- The application redirects the user to Okta
- Rather than checking credentials itself, the application trusts Okta to verify the user’s identity
- Okta authenticates the user, username and password, MFA
- Okta applies security policies – Is the user in the correct group? Are they using an approved device? Are they logging in from an unusual location? Is MFA required
- Okta grants access – After successful verification, Okta sends a secure authentication token to the application. The application accepts the user without requiring another login.
