Key responsibilities

Key responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders to map processes, prioritise opportunities and define measurable outcomes. Decide when to use AI, conventional automation or a combination of both.
  • Develop AI agents and workflows using established platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, xAI Grok or Microsoft Copilot Studio, selecting tools based on use case, security, reliability and cost.
  • Connect workflows to approved business systems through APIs, webhooks and secure connectors, including service management, monitoring, documentation and Microsoft 365 systems.
  • Build assistants that retrieve information from approved knowledge sources, respect existing access permissions and provide traceable answers.
  • Implement scoped identities, least-privilege access, secure credential storage and appropriate separation between internal and client environments.
  • Protect confidential information by assessing what data is sent to AI providers, how it is retained and whether configurations meet company requirements.
  • Control agent actions through defined permissions, validation and human approval for sensitive or high-impact changes. Test for prompt injection, data leakage and unintended tool use.
  • Build and test error handling, retries, duplicate-action prevention, escalation and safe recovery. Maintain audit logs and monitor accuracy, failures, usage and cost.
  • Manage code, configuration and releases through version control and controlled deployment processes. Document solutions, train colleagues and maintain them as systems and models change.

Potential projects

Service desk ticket classification and enrichment; internal knowledge assistants; onboarding and offboarding workflows; reporting and management summaries; and agent-assisted investigation of monitoring alerts with controlled remediation. Projects are prioritised around business value and risk.

Qualifications required

Essential experience and skills

  • Demonstrable experience building and deploying AI-enabled workflows or agents using at least one established platform: OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, xAI Grok, Microsoft Copilot Studio or equivalent.
  • Practical experience integrating AI with external systems and taking solutions beyond a prototype into supported operational use.
  • Ability to write and maintain code in Python, JavaScript or TypeScript, and confidence with REST APIs, JSON, webhooks and authentication such as OAuth.
  • Understanding of prompt design, structured outputs, tool calling and retrieval-augmented generation, including evaluating results and handling unreliable model responses.
  • Experience with identity and access management, secure secrets handling, access boundaries and protection of confidential business and client information.
  • Ability to test workflows against realistic scenarios, investigate failures and implement monitoring, documentation and support procedures.
  • Strong process analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain technical choices, limitations and risks clearly.

Experience with one relevant AI platform is sufficient. Candidates should be able to explain what they built, their own contribution, how it was secured and the operational results achieved.

Desirable experience

  • Managed service provider, IT operations, service desk or cyber security environment.
  • Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Microsoft Graph, Azure or Power Automate.
  • Integration with platforms such as HaloPSA, NinjaOne, SharePoint, Teams or Egnyte.
  • Workflow orchestration using tools such as Rewst, n8n or equivalent.
  • Permissions-aware search, vector databases, CI/CD and automated evaluation of AI outputs.

What success looks like

  • Useful workflows adopted by colleagues, with measurable reductions in manual effort, processing time or errors.
  • AI agents operating within approved access and data boundaries, with clear accountability and approval controls.
  • Reliable solutions with documented ownership, visible performance and cost, and effective support and recovery procedures.

Core Values

  • Commitment to integrity and excellence in delivering services for our clients.
  • Accountability and personal responsibility in our work and conduct.
  • Collaboration and inclusion to encourage team performance and achieve our shared goals.
  • Continuous development through ongoing personal growth and an eagerness to learn.
  • Curiosity, innovation and embracing change.
