# A quick guide to passwordless login

## What is passwordless login?

Passwordless authentication is exactly what it sounds like: a method of authenticating a user without a password.

It works by replacing passwords with other authentication factors, such as magic links, biometrics or one-time passwords (OTPs). 

## What are the types of passwordless logins?

### Magic links 

Magic links are URLs that, when clicked, allow users to log in without a password.

Companies like Amazon send a one-time passcode to a user’s email or phone.

## What are the benefits of passwordless login?

Passwordless authentication is more secure than traditional, password-based authentication, as it eliminates the risks you typically have with passwords (such as weak or compromised passwords)
